According to Gazzetta dello Sport (as reported by ESPN), Bayern Munich is one of four clubs interested in signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa:
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool and Newcastle United are among the clubs vying for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the 25-year-old.
Chiesa returned to action for the Bianconeri in January after missing a year due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and he finished the season with two goals and two assists in the final five games. He also scored in Italy’s 3-2 win over the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League semifinals earlier this month. Juventus are willing to let him go and are open to offers, but it is reported that it would take at least €60 million for them to part ways with him. He has only two years left on his contract at Allianz Stadium.
Overall, €60 million for Chiesa would be a good price. The 25-year-old is extremely skilled and productive, and he should be able to fully recover from an ACL tear last January this season.
What position would he play at Bayern Munich? That is a more difficult question.
Sadio Mané is thought to be on the market, and Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané’s futures are also somewhat uncertain. Gnabry has been linked to Arsenal FC, while Sané has not been linked to any specific clubs.
If — and this may be a big if — Bayern Munich decides to sell one or two of its wingers, there is little doubt that the Bavarians will look to Chiesa. However, there is no obvious sign that Bayern Munich intends to shift its roster in that manner at this time.
