Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure scattered– Predicted Everton XI v Burnley

Sean Dyche could look to make changes to his Everton starting lineup for their huge Premier League clash with Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The Toffees claimed a late 1-1 draw at St James’ Park thanks to a Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty on Tuesday night, while Burnley held Wolves to a 1-1 draw in their last game as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.

But after 13 games without a win for the Blues, Dyche needs to find a way to change the team’s fortunes and this feels like the perfect game to do so.

Should Abdoulaye Doucoure start for Everton v Burnley?

Jordan Pickford is the undisputed number one goalkeeper at the club, and it would take something terrible to happen for James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite’s partnership in central defence to be broken up.

Vitalii Mykolenko returned from illness to play at left-back against Newcastle and performed well so should keep his place, while Ben Godfrey seems to have worked his way to the top of the pecking order at right-back also.

In midfield Idrissa Gueye’s return to the side in a holding role made the team more stable defensively so he should continue, while Amadou Onana’s ability to be an asset in both penalty boxes means Sean Dyche should opt to rely on him once more.

Alongside them though Abdoulaye Doucoure has struggled for form in recent weeks and is without a goal since December. Andre Gomes came off the bench and added some control and creativity to midfield, so the Portuguese playmaker could get the nod from the start in a midfield three.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to go on a goalscoring run?

Dwight McNeil is one of the manager’s favourites and his position on the left-wing remains undisputed, especially with Arnaut Danjuma still sidelined through injury.

On the right though the boss has options and despite Ashley Young starting against the Magpies, Jack Harrison should come back into the side for a more attacking impetus and to provide more of a goal threat.

Up front £30m man Beto had earned a run of starts in recent weeks, but Calvert-Lewin netted his first goal in 24 games for the Toffees to win that point and should now start in the hope he can go on a run of form to move the team away from danger.

In other Everton news, Sam Allardyce says £30m ex-Toffees star “was a disaster” during his time at Goodison Park.
