Boston Celtics appears to make final decision on Jaylen Brown’s future after last minute negotiations

After being chosen to the All-NBA Second Team, Brown is eligible for a five-year, $295 million supermax extension. One reason for the lengthy negotiations could be that the Celtics are attempting to persuade Brown to accept an offer somewhere between the supermax figure and the four-year, $190 million standard max agreement. Brown has stated that he wishes to receive the full sum.

Brown, who averaged 26.6 points per game last season, has previously voiced dissatisfaction with his name being mentioned in trade rumors. Some of the angst has been aimed at Celtics fans. Many expected Brown to be moved or left when he became a free agent following the 2023-24 season, but all indicators point to him staying in Boston.
