Breaking: Experts makes £35m claim on Leeds United star

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes his old side would be selling Crysencio Summerville in a cheap deal if they only secured £35m for him, making this claim in an interview with Football Insider.

The 22-year-old was exceptional for much of the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 21 goals in all competitions and also registering plenty of assists.

Unfortunately for him, he was unable to shine against Southampton in the play-off final last month, the most important game of the season by far.

Summerville was even substituted at Wembley, with Dan James coming on and making much more of an impact.

Despite this, the Dutchman can be very proud of his achievements during the previous term and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him move to a Premier League club in the coming months.

The player has two years left on his contract and if Leeds are to generate a big profit from his sale, this summer may be the best chance for them to do that.

There isn’t a shortage of interest in his signature at the moment, with TEAMtalk reporting that Brighton and Hove Albion and Fulham have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for the 22-year-old.

It doesn’t seem as though any offers have been made yet with the transfer window being open for more than a week now, but the current window doesn’t shut until the latter stages of August and if the Whites want to hold on to the player, they will face a real battle.

£35m for a Championship player is a hefty sum, but Robinson believes the Whites should be looking to secure as much as possible for their star man if he does leave this summer.

He told Football Insider: “I think £35million is cheap for him. He was the Championship Player of the Season and is a quality player. £35million is a Championship price.

“He will want to play in the Premier League if there are offers there for him to do that.

“When you look at the numbers that’s put on other players, £35million for him is a snip. From a Leeds point of view, if they are to do a deal in that region, putting some add-ons in there is key. It’s almost the done thing now.

“With a player like Summerville and the age he’s at, he’s going to get better and achieve more. If he is going to leave Leeds, the add-ons you put in there should be on individual achievements and the team achievements wherever he goes.

“If trophies are won as a team, if things are reached at the international level from his personal achievements, it’s very important if he is sold that the deal is structured in a way that benefits Leeds for many years to come.”

It may be hard for Leeds United to generate more than £35m for Crysencio Summerville

Summerville was brilliant last season.

However, it would be difficult to see Leeds generating more than £35m for the player.

There doesn’t seem to be much movement in terms of bids for the winger at the moment and if bids don’t come in until later in the window, that may put a ceiling on the amount that Whites could sell him for.

With the number of teams that have been linked with him in mind and his contract situation, he could be sold for a high amount this window.

But generating more than £35m will probably be a tough task.
