Luai was tackled by Jaxson Paulo and Ben Trbojevic in a two-man set during the first half of Penrith’s 32-18 loss to Manly on Saturday. The five-eighth was trying to defuse a kick.

In the in-goal, play was halted to allow trainers to treat Luai’s left knee.

With 12 minutes remaining in the game, Luai was replaced by the Panthers, despite his initial ability to continue.

After the game, coach Ivan Cleary expressed optimism about Luai’s prognosis, and subsequent scans have shown no damage.

On his day off, Luai went back to the gym in Penrith on Tuesday to train.

The Panthers, who suffered last week against the Sea Eagles without their lucky halfback Nathan Cleary, will be relieved to hear this news.

Since Cleary’s hamstring injury in March, the Panthers have been optimistic that their co-captain would be able to play again following their round-six bye.

In addition, second-rower Scott Sorensen will be considered for their upcoming game on April 20 against Wests Tigers.

Despite sustaining a minor knee injury during the team’s victory over Brisbane last month, the New Zealand international has set his sights on a round-seven return.
