Liverpool has discovered what price Brentford will demand for Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbuemo during the summer transfer window
Brentford has set a strong valuation for Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the summer transfer window. Liverpool has been credited with an interest in the Cameroonian forward, along with other Premier League teams.
The 24-year-old impressed for Thomas Frank’s side with Ivan Toney sidelined through suspension for a large proportion of the 2023/24 campaign. Mbuemo recorded nine goals and six assists across his 22 starts in the top flight of English football.
The player has now captured the attention of clubs across Europe, as talents from Brentford so often do. According to L’Equipe, the Reds have ‘taken a look’ at the player as we approach Arne Slot’s first transfer window in charge of the club.
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in Mbeumo with Brentford already setting a strong valuation for the talent. HITC has claimed that the Bees will demand a figure in the region of $63million (£50m/€58m) to part ways with the forward.
Mbeumo himself has since commented on the possibility of a transfer exit shortly. “I’ve spent five seasons at Brentford,” he said to L’Equipe.
“In a club that knew how to help me grow and take a step forward. I want to play in the biggest competitions, in the best clubs. It’s still enticing to see some big teams interested in me. We’ll see.”
Mbeumo predominantly operates on the right wing and tends to cut in on his left foot, similar to the way Mohamed Salah has operated at Anfield as the Egyptian forward enters the final year of his contract this summer. “I have qualities that I have not yet fully exploited,” Mbeumo continued. “In the last action too, I must be even more killer, more decisive. I also know how important it is to work off the pitch.
“I set up programs with a sports coach. I am following a virtual reality program that allows me to improve my cognitive abilities. You have to be ready for the future.”
Liverpool.com says: Mbeumo fits the profile of someone Liverpool should be interested in this summer, given the uncertainty around Salah’s future. He can play as a striker or on the wing and at 24, he has plenty more development left in him. It is a transfer that reminds me of Sadio Mane’s arrival from Southampton. Mbeumo could reach new heights at Liverpool after already impressing in the Premier League.
