Browns Wednesday Injury Report is Loaded, Bears Star Does Not Practice

The Cleveland Browns were without a total of 11 players in practice on Wednesday as they prepare for the Chicago Bears. Five were for rest, one was personal (kicker Dustin Hopkins), but five others were unable to practice due to injuries. Meanwhile, the Bears biggest playmaker on offense was unable to practice due to an ankle injury

The Browns injury report is devastating, but not surprising. Safety Juan Thornhill is still working through the calf injury that kept him out against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Running back Kareem Hunt’s groin has been in bad shape most of the year. Defensive tackle Jordan Elliott was ruled out with a head injury and is in the concussion protocol. His status for Sunday is in doubt. Corner Denzel Ward was listed questionable going into Sunday, but was unable to play. He’s continuing to try to get to a point where his shoulder is manageable enough to play.

Edge rusher Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is still on the injury report as the Browns hope his pectoral injury won’t rule him out for the rest of the season. Depending on how that plays out, he may not be on the injury report by the end of the week, placed on injured reserve.

One injury to keep an eye on that of center Ethan Pocic. He left the game Sunday with a stinger. It kept him out the rest of that game and now it’s Wednesday and it’s still keeping him out of practice. The Browns have Nick Harris, who finished the game on Sunday if Pocic cannot go. Nevertheless, Pocic is an excellent pass protector and allows Harris to be utilized as a fullback.

The Bears are relatively healthy, but their biggest threat on offense, D.J. Moore, was unable to practice with an ankle injury on Wednesday. Moore is the most important player on offense as they have been able to win with different quarterbacks this season, but never without Moore. His 1,071 yards receiving rival the next three Bears pass catchers combined. Moore has more explosive receptions than the rest of the team combined. If that prevents him from playing on Sunday, it would be a significant loss for the Bears.
