Celtics finally made first free agent signing for a two-year record contract

Last season, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 6.1 points and 3.4 rebounds for Indiana.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Boston Celtics have signed Oshae Brissett to a two-year contract with a player option in the second year. According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, the transaction will be for the bare minimum.

Brissett, who began his career with the Toronto Raptors, has spent the last three seasons with the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers’ 6-foot-7 forward has watched his minutes dwindle as they gradually added a plethora of talent at his position.

Brissett appeared in 65 games for Indiana last season, averaging 16.7 minutes per game, the fewest minutes of his three seasons with the Pacers. He averaged 6.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game while shooting 38.6% from the field and 31.0% from deep.

His three-point percentage has dropped throughout the years. Brissett is a lifetime 34.4% deep shooter who has struggled to stay consistent from distance.

However, Celtics fans will remember the 25-year-old as a brief “Celtics Killer,” as he scored 27 points (his third-most in a single game) against Boston on February 27, 2022. Brissett hit six three-pointers, a career high, and also grabbed six rebounds. Following the loss, Boston finished the season 15-4 and advanced to the NBA Finals.
