According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Boston Celtics are trading the 31st choice in the 2023 NBA Draft to the Charlotte Hornets in return for the 34th and 39th picks.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Boston originally traded the 25th choice in the draft to the Detroit Pistons for the 31st pick. With the choice, Detroit chose Houston guard Marcus Sasser.
According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, the Celtics obtained two future second-round selections from the Pistons in the deal.Smith also stated that by dropping back in the draft and out of the first round, the Celtics should be able to use the $5 million MLE.
The Celtics received the 25th pick in the transaction that sent Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis. In the three-team transaction, Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala, and the 35th pick were also given to the Washington Wizards.
UPDATE: According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics have traded the 34th pick to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for pick 38 and a future second-round pick.
