Chris Davies swaps Tottenham for Birmingham City
Davies was brought in by Postecoglou last summer to assist him in his first season in England, but soon attracted attention from elsewhere as other clubs looked to appoint him as their manager.
Swansea came knocking in December, but Davies turned down the approach from the Championship outfit, largely down to how much he enjoyed working with Postecoglou at Spurs (Alasdair Gold).
However, when recently relegated Birmingham City offered Davies the top job there this summer, he found it hard to turn down and will now step into his first full managerial role. Postecoglou admitted that seeing the 39-year-old move on was no surprise, given his qualities (Football.London).
Spurs youngsters could move on loan to Birmingham
It remains to be seen who replaces Davies now, but the latest report from Football.London suggests there could be a potential relationship between Spurs and Birmingham now that can offer Tottenham youngsters a temporary home for the season.
Apparently, Davies was a “key link” between the development squad and senior squad at Spurs, taking a “keen interest” in the progress of a number of the young stars at the club.
Now, any number of “talented academy products” at Spurs could find that they have the perfect place to gain first-team experience in the upcoming season.
Names like Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington, and Yago Santiago are cited as players who have worked closely with Davies, as well as Will Lankshear and George Abbott. With Davies “well aware” of their talents, and Spurs likely to want to loan them out, this could be a match made in heaven.
The idea of playing for Birmingham, a club expected to challenge at the top of League One, is an “appealing” one for players, and there is thought to be a level of “trust” that Davies would look after any Spurs youngster heading that way.

I can think of no better place to send some of our Under-21s. Birmingham is a big club, they’ll surely be winning more games than they lose in League One, and it’s the perfect level for some of the lads we’ve got coming through.
