CONGRATULATIONS: Fans react as Jayson Tatum named All-NBA First Team for second straight season

Duke Sports Information – Former Duke standout Jayson Tatum was named to the All-NBA First Team for the second consecutive season, the league announced on Wednesday night. Tatum becomes the first player in program history to earn multiple All-NBA First Team nods and extends Duke’s streak of at least one All-NBA selection to five straight years – the longest collegiate streak nationally.

This is Tatum’s third All-NBA selection, adding to his third-team pick in 2020 and his first-team nod last season. He joins Grant Hill as the only former Blue Devils to be named an All-NBA First Team player.

Taum led the NBA in total scoring with 2,225 points during the regular season and finished as the first player in Boston Celtics history to average 30 points per game (30.1). He also set career-best marks for rebounds (8.8) and assists (4.6) and joined former Blue Devils Kyrie Irving and Zion Williamson as All-Star Game starters – establishing Duke as the first college all-time to have three former players voted in as starters.

The sixth-year forward, Tatum garnered the second most first-team votes of any player, drawing 92 of a possible 100 to go along with eight second-team votes. He was joined on the First Team by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
