Deal in few days as star set to sign new deal for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing free agent Alexander Djiku, who just left Strasbourg at the end of his contract. Besiktas, Lille, and Fenerbahce have all made bids for the player, who has caught the attention of Forest.

The Reds have already made a contract offer to the player, according to Foot Mercato. Strasbourg is also desperate to retain the player, who normally plays as a center defender.

The 28-year-old is yet to sign a new contract with Strasbourg, but has received interest from other clubs. Surprisingly, the club he has already officially departed will be coached by Forest-connected Patrick Vieira next season.

Djiku represented Ghana at the World Cup. The African nation had a mixed record, losing twice and defeating South Korea before being eliminated from the competition in the group rounds.

The defense, on the other hand, performed admirably. He wasn’t Otto Addo’s first choice, but he did start the first game against Portugal.

Djiku has extensive playing experience in France. In addition to 127 appearances for Strasbourg, he has also appeared for Caen 68 times and Bastia 51 times.

This would be a fascinating signing. On a free transfer, he may be one Forest believes is worth the risk, even if he isn’t up to Premier League standards.

A 26-year-old Djiku was compared to Virgil van Dijk in 2021. His ability to get into tackles and read the game so well makes that a natural comparison.

Djiku currently has some proposals to examine. Although he has not yet made a decision, it is expected that he will do so in the near future.

Rumour rating: 6/10 – on the surface, this signing does not appear to be a bad one.

Forest will most likely start next season with Felipe and Moussa Niakhate as their key central defense partnership, with Djiku serving as a backup.

However, this would imply the signing of yet another African player. With the African Cup of Nations approaching, Forest cannot afford to lose any more players for at least a month.
