Nottingham Forest are willing to fork out £17 million to sign Las Palmas goalkeeper Alvaro Valles in the summer.
This news comes from Pasion a Marilla.
So, what has been said about Forest and their interest in Valles? Let’s take a closer look
Nottingham Forest want Alvaro Valles
Well, it would appear as though the Reds have an interest in the Las Palmas star – and they tried to sign him in January.
Forest were desperate to sign a goalkeeper two months ago, with doubts over Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos.
According to Pasion a Marilla, the Reds bid £17 million for the stopper and they’re happy to pay that valuation in the summer too.
It’s claimed that Las Palmas are keen to tie their number one down to a new contract but so far he’s resisting the advances.
Valles has been ever-present in La Liga this season, making 28 appearances and keeping seven clean sheets.
Now, the player’s future could lie in England but first things first, Forest will need to make sure that they secure Premier League survival.
Forest signed Matz Sels in the January transfer window and it does feel as though he will be the number two moving forward.
Last week, we exclusively revealed that Sunderland star Anthony Patterson is another goalkeeper on the radar of Forest.
Who is Alvaro Valles?
The Spanish stopper came through the youth ranks with Real Betis and left without making a first-team appearance for the club.
He spent time on loan with lower league outfit CD Gerena and in 2018 he made the switch to Las Palmas on a free transfer.
During his time with Las Palmas, he’s largely been the first-choice custodian and has made 129 appearances for the club.
Valles is out of contract in 2025 and with no sign at the moment that he will pen a new one, Las Palmas could be forced to cash in.
In further news, it’s been claimed that Spain’s head coach Luis de La Fuente is considering calling him up for the national team ahead of Euro 2024.
Who Scored lists concentration and shot stopping as the main strengths of Valles – with no notable weaknesses.
Interestingly, under style of play it appears that coming off his line and punching the ball are two things that he loves to do.
