Roma striker Tammy Abraham has attracted huge interest from Leicester City, as a return to the Premier League looks likely for the English Striker.
After winning the Championship, the Foxes will look to survive a tough season against talented opposition. With striker options becoming bare, a new figure is needed to ensure depth and quality. With Abraham becoming available, could he become Leicester’s marksman for the 2024/25 campaign?
The 26-year-old rose through the ranks at Chelsea’s academy with multiple loans before breaking into the first team. He impressed at Bristol City, where he would score 26 goals. A step up to the Premier League for Swansea would then follow before a move to Aston Villa in the Championship. Here he would prove his talents as he found the net a further 26 times and helped the Villains to promotion.
As a result of Chelsea’s transfer ban, the forward would gain game time under Frank Lampard. Once the club could spend again, his opportunities dwindled with Thomas Tuchel at the helm. This would lead to a deal of around £40 million for the Englishmen to move to AS Roma.

The forward would play a prominent role under Jose Mourinho as he would feature over 100 times with 36 goals and 12 assists. However, with Mourinho’s sacking and Daniele De Rossi coming in the attacker would fall out of favour. This also wasn’t helped by a lengthy injury which left him out for 285 days, meaning the 26-year-old would feature just 12 times all season.
According to Leggo.it, the East-Midlands-based side are interested in bringing the striker back to the Premier League. That same report would also state that the forward would be put on the transfer list after failing to impress De Rossi and would request €28 million (£24 million) for his services.
In addition, Leicestershire Live understands Maresca’s departure will have minimal impact on any player incomings this summer. Therefore, this isn’t a signing specific to the coach or his system as the club’s head of recruitment, and scouting team remain the key influences in the incomings of players.

Overall, this would be a great signing for Leicester City. Abraham is clearly a quality striker as suggested by his impressive stats at the highest level. The Foxes desperately needed a clinical and consistent striker at times last season which is exemplified by both Abdul Fatawu and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall being first and third for big chances created.
On the other hand, the Englishmen might be looking for a more competitive Premier League side fighting for Europe. Furthermore, the Foxes’ transfers could be limited due to Financial Fair Play. Therefore, Leicester may not have the finances if a bidding war with other top flight clubs was to happen.
