Detroit Lions Commanders Explain Why They Fired a Player

In contrast to Tom Brady, Barry Sanders believes the NFL is in good shape. The Hall of Fame running back and Detroit Lions icon was recently questioned about Brady’s recent statement that “there’s a lot of mediocrity” in today’s NFL.

Sanders, who received a statue from the Lions earlier this fall, stated that his opinion is heavily influenced by his former team’s current success. Despite Thursday’s loss to the Packers, Detroit is 8-3 and in first position in the NFC North.

“Well, maybe he’s talking about the teams that he played for,” Sanders remarked on Robert Griffin III’s podcast. “Not the team for which I played. It’s far from mediocre. Maybe I just have blinders on as a Lions fan.

“I still see a fantastic product.” Great teams can still be found. This is a really popular game. I’d listen to everything he has to say, but look, I think this is the best product and item we’ve ever seen as Lions fans. So I’m going to take it easy for a time.”

As Sanders mentioned, Brady’s previous clubs haven’t had the same success as the Lions this season. After a 3-1 start, the Buccaneers are now 4-6. The Patriots are 2-8, with the league’s 31st-ranked scoring offense.
