The Boston Celtics forward Sam Hauser has agreed to a five-year extension with the club to the tune of $45 million, his agent Jason Glushon confirmed.
This follows the contract extension of fellow Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, who signed a five-year, $315 million deal, and guard Derrick White, who penned a four-year, $125 million deal.
Undrafted out of the University of Virginia in 2021, Hauser has since become a key member of the Celtics roster. ESPN Stats & Information found that he was the fourth-best 3-pointer shooter in the NBA last season with 400 attempts or more, shooting 42.4%.
He has shot 42.2% on 3-pointers throughout his career. The 26-year-old also made 179 catch-and-shoot 3-pointers; the sixth-highest in the league last season.
With Hauser’s extension agreement, the Celtics have one of the most costly payrolls in the league. Its 2025-26 payroll is now sitting at $225 million in addition to a $210 million luxury tax penalty. Currently, the Celtics’ combined salary and luxury tax are projected to be the most expensive in NBA history.
The reigning NBA Champions, Boston dominated the league both during the regular season and the playoffs. The team finished top of the Eastern Conference 64-18 before defeating the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs on route to the NBA title.
