DONE DEAL: Millwall reach full agreement to sign star man on a permanent deal

The season isn’t over, but it sounds like one potential Tottenham Hotspur transfer is already nearing completion. According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have reached an agreement with Championship side Millwall for the transfer of Spurs academy product Japhet Tanganga. Personal terms have not yet been agreed, which is the next step before the transfer can go through in June when the window opens on June 14.

Tanganga’s had a successful loan down the road at Millwall this season, joining them in January and starting virtually every game for manager Neil Harris in a season where they finished 13th but won their last five matches.

It’s safe to say they like him down there, and it’s also likely he’s found his level — mid to high Championship level, possibly low Premier League central defender. You might take that as a slam, but I mean it sincerely — that is an outstanding outcome for a Tottenham Hotspur academy product and the fact Spurs now appear likely to get real money for Japhet is fantastic.

There’s no indication as to how much Tanganga might fetch on the market from Millwall. I could entertain anything from mid-seven figures to low eight figures. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough, there’s no hurry. Millwall’s season is now over so Tanganga has now returned to Spurs. One expects he’ll be training in some form with his home club from now until the end of the Premier League season in a couple of weeks.
