Everton desires Jose Mourinho full-back Jayden Oosterwolde as serious transfer deal emerges

Everton are interested in signing Jayden Oosterwolde but won’t be rushed into making a move by other clubs, Caught Offside have reported.

According to the outlet’s website on 21 June the Toffees are “monitoring” the Fenerbahce left-back’s situation, as are West Ham and Serie A side Napoli.

The Hammers have reportedly already met with the Dutchman’s agent but that will not pressure their Goodison Park counterparts into taking any unplanned action yet.

Istanbul giants Fenerbahce, who have just appointed Jose Mourinho as manager, are said not to have plans to sell the 23-year-old this summer, but would be “seriously tested” by bids of €25million [£21.1m].

Offers of that size haven’t been simple for the Toffees for a while but after a flurry of transfer activity which has seen deals done to sign Jack Harrison on a second loan [Fabrizio Romano, 21 June] and a permanent move for Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam it appears the situation has opened up.

The sale of Lewis Dobbin in the opposite direction may have addressed the potential profit and sustainability concerns ahead of 30 June [The Athletic, 21 June], plus the planned departure of Amadou Onana could arm the club with enough money to make more moves.

There appears to be action already to guard against the potentially necessary sale of Dominic Calvert-Lewin [Football Transfers, 21 June] as well so there could be extensive activity in both directions yet during this transfer window.

Vitalii Mykolenko is the de-facto top left-back in Sean Dyche’s squad and has for the most part developed into a solid option.

But the manager also saw fit to use 38-year-old Ashley Young and versatile centre-back Ben Godfrey on the left at times last season so it would be no surprise if he was open to signing a new man at the position.

Godfrey’s exit is another that could go through this summer after he rejected offers to extend his contract amid interest in Serie A [HITC, 11 June], so if he is sold along with others the finances might be there to push ahead on interest in Oosterwolde, who established himself as a regular last season with 27 league outings.

He has moved from the Eredivisie with Twente, to Parma in Serie B, then the Turkish Super Lig in the past three years, and there is clearly interest in adding another move to that list this summer.
