Former Leeds United star Jon Newsome is of the view that Crysencio Summerville is looking ‘lost’ at the business end of the season.
Summerville’s form has been poor towards the end of the campaign and the Dutchman produced another subdued performance in Leeds’ 0-0 draw at Norwich City on Sunday.
He has scored just twice in their last seven Championship games and his lack of form is one of the reasons Leeds’ automatic promotion hopes were derailed towards the end of the regular campaign.
Newsome conceded that Summerville is looking a bit lost at the moment and everything about his game suggests that he is struggling at this stage of the season.
He is not sure whether it is down to confidence or the fact that Summerville is feeling the effects of a long season where he was voted the Championship’s Player of the Season.
However, the former White insisted that Leeds need him to rest up and turn up as they prepare for Norwich’s visit to Elland Road this week.
“I don’t know the lad, never spoken to him, but his body language and mannerisms look like he is struggling.
“Is that with confidence or maybe he is a bit tired or maybe it is ‘I can’t wait until the end of the season’ because it has been a long one and he won Player of the Season in the Championship, he’s had a fabulous season?
“He has got to go put his feet up, get rested, mentally get that spark back because he is the match-winner for us.”
Summerville has scored 20 goals and registered ten assists in all competitions for Leeds this season.
