Grant Williams responds to those trolling him over Celtics-Mavericks Finals

Grant Williams is not as salty about the NBA Finals matchup this year as you would think.

The Charlotte Hornets forward Williams has been the subject of countless memes and roasts online over the last several days thanks to the Boston Celtics-Dallas Mavericks Finals matchup. Williams used to be a member of both teams but was traded away by each of them over the span of the last year. He went from the Celtics, whom he started his NBA career with, to the Mavericks in a sign-and-trade last offseason. Then at the trade deadline in February, Williams was sent by the Mavericks to the lowly Hornets as part of the PJ Washington deal.

On Friday, Williams responded to an Instagram post about him by Overtime that read, “He woke up sad as hell today.”

Woke up feeling blessed,” Williams replied. “Both teams have great people and it was an honor to learn from them.”

That is a classy reaction from Williams, but it definitely has to hurt a little bit that both teams are doing so well now after moving on from him. There were also some rumors that Williams was supposedly not too well-liked at one of those stops.

On the bright side, at least Williams got to be a part of a Finals run with the Celtics in 2022. He may be rooting for the Mavericks to win it all this time around though because he will be eligible to receive a ring from them as a member of Dallas’ roster at one point this season.
