Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco revealed that his 11-year-old son Stephen criticized him for throwing an outrageous interception against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.
While Flacco and the Browns escaped with a 31-27 win, the 38-year-old veteran admitted that his oldest son did not let the turnover slip postgame.
‘My oldest son, the first thing he said was, “Where were you throwing that ball? Where were you throwing that pick?”,’ Flacco shared during a media scrum on Wednesday.
The play happened early in the second quarter when Flacco appeared to throw the ball directly towards Jaguars cornerback Darious Williams, who took the interception 11 yards in return.
The interception aside, Flacco played an otherwise good game, throwing for 311 yards and three touchdowns.
Despite being the second oldest quarterback in the NFL behind Aaron Rodgers, Flacco is not letting age get in the way of having solid performances for Cleveland.
In two appearances so far this season, Flacco has completed 55 per cent of his passes for 565 yards and five touchdowns with only two interceptions.
On Monday, Flacco bested Jacksonville’s 24-year-old quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns with three interceptions.
Flacco is in his 16th NFL season and his first with the Browns after stints with the Ravens, Broncos, Jets and Eagles. His longest and most successful tenure was with Baltimore from 2008-2018, where Flacco won the Super Bowl and was named the game’s MVP in 2013.
Flacco and the Browns currently hold a 8-5 record and trail the Ravens on top of the AFC North. With four games remaining, the Browns look to finish their season strong as they gear up to face the Bears on December 17.
