Journalist finally reveals top big news coming out of Everton in the next couple of days

Jarrad Branthwaite could commit his future to Everton this week.

The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele has reported that he would expect ‘this one to move on’ in the next 48 hours.

Branthwaite arrived on Merseyside from Carlisle United three years ago and was handed very few chances to kickstart his career and was sent out on loan to Blackburn Rovers shortly after.

The defender failed to catch the eye following his return from Ewood Park, however his following loan spell in the Netherlands attracted plenty of attention.

Branthwaite became a regular for PSV last season as they lifted the KNVB Cup and finished second in Eredivisie.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was eager to snap him up permanently, while Manchester United also expressed interest in signing the centre-back.

However, Branthwaite remained at Everton and has since welcomed some exceptional stats as he has done a brilliant job in steadying a struggling backline.

Reports have claimed United remain interested in Branthwaite, while Man City have also joined the race for his signature.

The Toffees were said to have offered fresh terms to the England U21 international in a bid to put off the Premier League giants and it has now been reported that he could put pen to paper before the week is up.

Steele wrote on his Twitter: “Jarrad Branthwaite ready to commit long-term future to Everton. Talks been ongoing for a while. Would expect this one to move on in the next 48 hours.”

Branthwaite’s brilliant news

Everton had a rather underwhelming transfer window and that was largely expected due to their financial problems, however tying Branthwaite down to a new deal could be one of their best bits of business this year.

It wouldn’t have surprised many if the 21-year-old had chosen the bright lights of European football instead of potentially fighting relegation at Goodison Park, however it appears the club have done enough to capture his heart.

Whether this means he will actually stay as long as his contract lasts is questionable, but it would suggest he won’t be going anywhere in January – when United could have considered a move.

Any potential exit for Branthwaite would at least bring huge profit to Everton’s table.
