JUST IN: Cleveland Browns Suddenly Cut Veteran Running Back

The Cleveland Browns have had issues at the running back position since their star Nick Chubb went down with a season-ending injury. Since then, Kareem Hunt, Jerome Ford, and Pierre Strong Jr. have been taking over for Chubb throughout the season. It is now reported that the team has cut their veteran running back as we head into week 13.

Cleveland has decided to part ways with their veteran running back Kenyan Drake. Drake was signed to the Browns’ practice squad at the NFL trade deadline from the Baltimore Ravens to add more depth to the running back position. He spent two years with the Ravens and did not have the production the team was hoping for.

Drake started his NFL career back in 2016 with the Miami Dolphins. After four years in Miami, he was then traded to the Arizona Cardinals, where he would emerge as a decent weapon for the team. After having a 955 rushing-yard season, he was then dealt to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 and went to Baltimore the year after. The veteran running back has been all over the place, and now he is a free agent once again.

The veteran has amounted to 3,866 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns since entering the league. After Cleveland signed him to the practice squad, many thought that he would find success with the team, especially since Chubb is not playing for the rest of the season. However, we did not get to see him in action with the Browns as Hunt has been taking the majority of the offensive snaps.

Cleveland is currently 7-4 and in third place in the highly competitive AFC North. They will be traveling to Southern California this week to take on the Los Angeles Rams in hopes of moving up to second place in their division over the Pittsburgh Steelers. As for Drake, he is now a free agent, so it will be interesting if a team decides to pick him up.
