The Latest on Celtics’ Health Front for Friday’s Game vs. Nets

The Celtics host the Nets Friday night in Boston’s first game of the NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament.

The Boston Celtics got off to a scorching hot start to begin the 2023-24 campaign, including a 155-104 dismantling of the Indiana Pacers, their third-largest margin of victory since 2000, and a game where they generated the second-most points in franchise history.

They’ve subsequently cooled off, losing two straight games. The first was a 114-109 overtime loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves. They were defeated 106-103 by the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, knocking Boston off the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

After two straight road games, the Celtics, who are tied for second in the East with the Milwaukee Bucks at this early stage, return home to face the Brooklyn Nets. The game is also Boston’s first appearance in the NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament.

Kristaps Porzingis, who led all scorers with 29 points in the City of Brotherly Love on Wednesday night, recently stated of the NBA’s efforts to spice up the regular season, “I think it’s been presented really well here in the NBA,” adding, “I think it’s going to be a huge success and I look forward to hopefully winning it.”

And, as the C’s look to get the Association’s newest structure off to a good start, the fact that their injury list only includes center Neemias Queta helps.

Unfortunately, the 24-year-old Portugueseman will miss his sixth game in a row owing to right foot injury management.

Last Saturday’s game between Boston and Brooklyn at Barclays Center was one of them. The visitors won 124-114, and Jayson Tatum became the franchise’s youngest player to reach 10,000 career points, a milestone he discussed afterward.

Friday night’s rematch will tip-off at 7:30 EST at TD Garden. Inside The Celtics will have content related to the matchup before, during, and afterward. Follow @BobbyKrivitsky on Twitter for updates and analysis from pregame to post.
