The Latest on Kristaps Porzingis After Exiting Celtics’ Loss to Magic

Kristaps Porzingis did not return after hurting his left calf in the third quarter of the Magic’s 113-96 win over the Celtics.

Friday’s 113-96 loss to the Orlando Magic was a disaster.

One doesn’t want to overreact to a game, especially not in the regular season. But the Boston Celtics’ defeat at the Amway Center highlighted their most concerning traits.

Their years-long struggles to come out sharp after halftime were on display as the hosts staged a 17-0 run to start the third quarter.

During that stretch, Joe Mazzulla opted against taking a timeout. However, even after he called one, his team continued turning the ball over, providing minimal resistance defensively, and lacked cohesion offensively.

Adding insult to injury — as if their performance wasn’t bad enough — Kristaps Porzingis exited the game in the third quarter due to left calf tightness.

Fortunately, while he did not return to the matchup after feeling a tweak as he ran down the floor, the seven-foot-three center told Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe that he doesn’t believe the injury is too serious.

Porzingis will undergo an MRI on Monday.
