MONTREAL, QUEBEC — Following the announcement of the netminder’s three-year contract extension yesterday, Samuel Montembeault and Kent Hughes addressed the media at the Bell Centre on Saturday.

What Montembeault believes earned him the contract:
My improvement was quite beneficial to me. But one thing I did better starting last year was being more consistent, which I need to continue doing going forward. Every time I receive the call, I need to be prepared to give the squad a fighting chance.
Montembeault on his contract extension, which provides him with additional stability:
There is no doubt that it provides stability, but I’m going to use a quote to prove it.
Kent shared a quote from Joe Sakic with us at training camp. He stated that he spent the first few years of his career demonstrating that he belonged in the National Hockey League and the rest of his career proving that he deserved to remain in the League. So, now that the contract has been signed, I believe that’s all I need to do: keep proving that I deserve to be here
