Leeds United may have muscled Arsenal and Manchester United out of eye-catching coup

Outside of the transfer window, there’s little in the way of concrete transfer plans the club can conduct, but youth scouting has been a constant.

The 49ers have Craig Dean as head of youth recruitment currently, and his influence has been felt with how the senior squad is constantly getting talent breaking through.

Mason Cotcher offered Leeds contract after trial period – Report

The Telegraph revealed this week that the club have now offered a contract to England youth international Mason Cotcher after his Sunderland exit.

Cotcher, 17, was taken on trial by Leeds and featured for both the U18s and U21s while seemingly weighing up his options after leaving the Academy of Light.

In the process, he scored twice in the U18 PL, against Liverpool as well as his former club Sunderland – clearly impressing enough to earn a contract offer.

Is Crysencio Summerville the best player in the Championship?

When it comes to youth options for Cotcher, he was seemingly in demand and not looking to rush into a new club after leaving Sunderland.

From August up until the end of January, Cotcher had featured for both Manchester United and Arsenal’s youth squads on a similar trial basis to that of Leeds’.

Indeed, he played half-an-hour against Leeds’ U18s for Man United in that 4-0 for the Red Devils, while his only goal contributions elsewhere came for Arsenal with a goal and assist against Crystal Palace.

With an offer on the table, it looks as though Leeds have convinced Cotcher of Thorp Arch being the best possible route for him over two Premier League giants.
