Leicester City continue battle with Leeds United to sign £10m astonishing’ Bundesliga champion

Leeds United are rivalling Leicester City and other European sides in the race to sign a striker that has just helped Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga.

Daniel Farke‘s side are likely to be in the market for more firepower if the club are promoted at the first time of asking to the Premier League this season. Leeds currently sit in second place with two games left.

Patrick Bamford is first choice despite only scoring the odd goal here and there. The one-time England man only started games after the turn of the year, having lost his place in the side to striker Joel Piroe.

But Piroe has hardly looked like a £16m player in recent weeks and months, with Bamford now Farke’s main pick up top. Mateo Joseph looks an exciting talent coming through, while Georgi Rutter is playing as a 10.

If Leeds are promoted then they need a more reliable source of goals and that has seen them enter the race for Bayer Leverkusen’s ‘astonishing’ talent Adam Hlozek. AS Roma Live say Leeds want the forward.

But the Yorkshire side are not alone in the race to land the Czech Republic star ahead of the summer window – with Leicester also keen on signing Hlozek, according to the report.

Leeds battling Leicester to sign Leverkusen’s Adam Hlozek

The two Championship promotion contenders are not alone in pursuit of Hlozek. Serie A sides Roma and Lazio also want to land the Czech Republic star with Leverkusen demanding a bargain fee of just £10m.

Hlozek has impressed for Xabi Alonso’s Bundesliga champions this term, even if he has only started nine of 32 games. The talent has scored seven goals and laid on two assists, helping Leverkusen stay unbeaten.

Even if Leverkusen are in the Champions League and on course for a sensational treble, Hlozek may feel he needs to leave the German giants for regular game time. A move to Italy or England is on the cards.

What Xabi Alonso has said about Leeds target Adam Hlozek

Talking to Leverkusen’s site in 2022, Alonso said: “I’m very happy with Adam. He’s contributed a lot both in attack and defence. He is disciplined, has great tactical knowledge and he has already helped us a lot.”

Hlozek is a serious talent and previous links to the likes of Arsenal are proof of that. He has done well at Leverkusen but if he is to go and make his name, he needs to find a club where he can start matches.

He is built for the Premier League. Standing at 6ft 2in and renowned for his ability to hold the ball-up and bring others into play and his impact in both boxes, he gives Leeds something they do not currently have.
