Some clubs feel the need to make a change during the season, desperate to bring in someone new to try and stave off the inevitable, as was the case with Sheffield United.
But I doubt whether the future of Rob Edwards was ever discussed during the many meetings the Hatters hierarchy would have held during the 2023/2024 season.
Now relegation is inevitable there will, of course, be mutterings from within the main stream media relating to Rob, with, to put it mildly, the gun being jumped.
But, to me, Rob Edwards has one of the safest jobs in English football.
Naturally, Rob will meet with the Hatters hierarchy, discussions will take place as to what went wrong but I’d bet a small fortune the agenda will be more focused on the plans for next season and how, aided by the parachute payments, we can orchestrate an immediate return to the top flight of English football.
Those who pull the strings behind the scene know, that despite the outcome, Rob did a splendid job in keeping us in the fight to avoid relegation as long as he did, especially considering the lengthy injury list he had to contend with and the budget restrictions he had to operate within.
In fact, it would not surprise me if Rob was, despite the outcome of the season, be awarded an improved contract.
But, I’ve expressed my feelings on the subject matter, but what are your views?
