Aston Villa beat Newcastle Untied to sign star midfielder as player reject Newcastle to join Villa Park

Newcastle United are interested in signing Harvey Barnes this summer, although Aston Villa are also intrigued.

The Magpies are back on the hunt for Barnes after initially passing on a deal for the Leicester City winger earlier this month.

But Eddie Howe is back in the hunt, with the Toon manager looking for a new left winger.

Barnes is regarded as a low-risk acquisition, which is why he is being pursued by a number of Premier League clubs. Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United are also interested.

The 25-year-old has several great choices, but a fresh report explains why Unai Emery’s side may be able to win the race to sign him.

Why is a move to Aston Villa enticing to Harvey Barnes?

Barnes is interested in a move to Aston Villa, according to Leicestershire Live. They claim this is due to the fact that he would not have to transfer his family, whilst they can offer European football. Villa, who finished seventh last season, will compete in the Europa Conference League this season.

In contrast, Newcastle can provide Barnes with Champions League football, which he has never had in his career. This could provide the Magpies an advantage, however they lack the geographical advantages that Aston Villa has.

It will all come down to Barnes’ priorities. If the ‘unbelievable’ winger wants to follow in the footsteps of James Maddison and move to London, it will be a toss-up between West Ham and Tottenham. Aston Villa will be the frontrunners if he wants to keep his family where they are.

But, if he wants to test himself in Europe’s top flight and join a youthful and hungry squad that is only going to become better, he must choose Newcastle.
