Ipswich Town are currently trying to sort out the future of their highly sought-after head coach Kieran McKenna but are still keeping one eye firmly on the summer transfer window.
The Tractor Boys are back in the Premier League after a miraculous promotion to the top-flight despite being a newly-promoted side, having finished second in League One twelve months prior. Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has predicted the club to receive approximately £150 million even if they spend merely one season in the top division of English football.
However, right now, the board are fighting a persistent battle to keep hold of McKenna. Over the past few weeks, there has been reported interest from Brighton and Hove Albion, Chelsea and even his former club Manchester United.
Talks of his departure to Old Trafford were made even louder when it was revealed on Friday afternoon that Erik ten Hag would be leaving his post at the Red Devils regardless of today’s result in the FA Cup final against bitter rivals Manchester City.
Nevertheless, the hierarchy are still working to strengthen the squad this summer ahead of what will be a daunting task to survive in the Premier League, having spent so long bouncing around the Championship and League One over the past two decades.
Speaking on the Fully Loaded Transfer Show, journalist Ben Jacobs provided an update on the club’s prospective transfer business this summer, claiming that Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron is wanted by the East Anglian side but has listed Omari Hutchinson as the priority for Ipswich Town over the coming months.
“I’m told that there is Premier League interest in Almiron as well and Ipswich may be one to watch. Ipswich’s number one priority would be to bring in Omari Hutchison from Chelsea, but you just don’t know, things could change.”

Hutchinson had a tremendous campaign with Ipswich Town, bagging 11 goals and recording six assists in 50 appearances whilst on loan from Chelsea. Furthermore, his market value has increased to £3.8 million, as per Transfermarkt, although the Blues will likely want a lot more.
Meanwhile, Almiron is 30 and will be turning 31 during the 2024/25 campaign. It would be a much wiser transfer strategy to try and sign Hutchinson on a permanent basis given he has a higher ceiling than the Paraguay international.
