NORMAN — Brent Venables’ two biggest recruiting wins since the end of the regular season did not come via the transfer portal or the 2024 class.
They were recruited from within Oklahoma’s program.
The Sooners have benefited from two significant decisions from their two greatest defensive players in the previous 72 hours, with safety Billy Bowman Jr. announcing his intention to return for his senior season on Friday night and linebacker Danny Stutsman following suit Monday afternoon. It came a week after it was reported that the linebacker will declare for the NFL Draft.
“This is college football,” Oklahoma coach Brent Venables remarked at a press conference for the Alamo Bowl on Thursday. “You can’t keep guys forever.”
