Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo today spoke to the Italian media, giving an exclusive interview to Sky Sport.
The 24-year-old, who’s on loan from Galatasaray until the end of the season, could see his transfer becoming permanent next year, depending on how his spell goes.
Following his first month at Aston Villa, Zaniolo had a lot to talk about, first claiming he got impressed by what he’s seen so far.
“Let’s say that the structures here are a bit more advanced than in Italy, football is very different,” Zaniolo told Sky Sport.
“In Italy more tactics and waiting and studying, here football is more proactive. For my characteristics I think this football is better than the Italian one. As soon as I arrived I immediately understood the importance and the history of a club like Aston Villa and I got to work.”
Zaniolo was also quizzed about his first meeting with Unai Emery, and claimed there’s a very good relationship with the Spanish manager.
“Monchi had spoken to me about Emery’s desire to have me here. He is one of the best coaches around, we talked about group things, things on the pitch. He made a great impression on me straight away because apart from being a great coach I think he is a great person, direct, who knows what he wants and I am happy to work with him.”
The midfielder was also quizzed about his future, with Sky asking where he sees himself in five years. He said he just wants to have his driver’s licence by then, and more seriously, claimed he’s not really thinking about that.
“I hope that in five years it will be my thing, then I hope to continue to enjoy football. I don’t set myself many long-term goals, now the goal is to do well. If you achieve short-term goals then you have the chance to achieve more long-term ones.”
Then Sky asked if Zaniolo has any ‘dream’ about his future, and he still didn’t tease with a move to any other club.
“The dream in five years is to become an important, complete player, not only on the pitch but also off it. To mature as I am doing from a human and professional point of view.”
In the same interview, Zaniolo also talked about the great relationship he has with Aston
