Panthers hooker signs new deal after snub interest from sydney

The Penrith Panthers, who hope to complete a four-peat this season, have decided to re-sign hooker Mitch Kenny to a new contract.

Following Apisai Koroisau’s trade to the Wests Tigers last season, Kenny, 26, has emerged as a key player in the center of the park and has contributed significantly to the team’s last two Grand Final victories.

Since joining the Panthers through their renowned junior system, Kenny has played in 86 first-grade games and leads the team in tackles made in the majority of his outings.

Kenny has extended his contract with the Panthers for a another three seasons, through the end of the 2027 season, following reports that the St George Illawarra Dragons were showing interest in him.

Kenny remarked, “I’m excited to dedicate myself to the Panthers because this place is home to me.”

“I’m thrilled to return the favor to Ivan Cleary and the entire team, who have believed in me from the start.

“I’m thrilled to have the chance to represent our community and wear the Panthers jersey for three more seasons.”

Rugby League General Manager Shane Elford of the Panthers said, “On behalf of everyone at Panthers, we are thrilled to see Mitch remain with the club for a further three seasons.”

“Mitch’s bravery, tenacity, and devotion to his team demonstrate the fundamental values we hold dear at our club.”
