Dani Ceballos reportedly turned down a move to Aston Villa before re-signing with Real Madrid.
Dani Ceballos had the possibility to join Aston Villa, who were willing to pay him a €8 million-a-year contract, according to Defensa Central. However, he has decided to remain at Real Madrid.
Despite no guarantees of first-team involvement, the Spanish midfielder has signed a new deal with Real Madrid. Real Madrid is well-stocked in the midfield, with seven central midfielders on its roster right now.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is said to be a fan of the Spanish midfielder and wants Ceballos to sign a new deal and stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. He appears to have assured the player that he will be a key member of the first-team squad next season.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old has built a deep bond with Real Madrid fans, who have praised his work ethic and dedication to the squad. And his performances this season piqued the interest of Aston Villa.
Aston Villa will now have to search elsewhere to bolster their midfield. The Villans will need to strengthen their roster, and they will need to bring in someone who can control the tempo of the game and recycle possession.
Next season, Aston Villa will compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League. As a result, they require a larger and more capable squad to succeed on numerous fronts. Unai Emery’s primary objective should be to sign a great center midfielder.
Ceballos would have been a fantastic addition for them. But it was evident that the 26-year-old did not want to join the West Midlands club. Aston Villa currently have Douglas Luiz and John McGinn on their roster and need to add another quality player before the transfer window shuts. Meanwhile, Ceballos will be hoping to earn his way into the starting lineup more frequently next season.
Real Madrid have completed the transfer of England international Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, and he will be a sure starter for them. It remains to be seen whether Ceballos can carve out a spot in the starting lineup for himself next season.
