RESPONDE: Caitlin Clark challenged for recreating Kobe Bryant’s iconic championship photo

Clark was not behind the idea of recreating the moment, but simply agreed

Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark is receiving a ton of hate because she recreated Kobe Bryant‘s iconic photo from when he won the 2001 NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Lakers. Her 34-point performance on Sunday led the team to a third consecutive Big Ten conference championship.

Clark, 22, was not behind the idea of recreating the moment. She simply agreed to take the photo when Bri Lewerke, a freelance photographer, suggested the pose.

Some fans of the NBA and NCAA were displeased with Clark recreating the photo, saying it would have only been okay after winning the national championship.

Clark and the Hawkeyes lost the national title game last year to the LSU Tigers. The Iowa guard is set to join the WNBA next season, so this is her last shot at the championship.

Caitlin Clark goes off in the second half

Iowa defeated Nebraska 94-89 in overtime thanks to an incredible performance from Clark in the second half.

She missed all nine of her shots from beyond the arc in the first half and enters halftime with just four points.

Clark then scored 30 points in the second half, including five shots from deep, to force OT and complete the conference three-peat. The day, however, did not go off without a hitch.
