Liverpool could be without up to six first-team players against Everton on Saturday.
The Reds return to Anfield this weekend after playing two Premier League games on the road. With their local rivals in town, Liverpool must simply return to winning ways.
The Toffees are coming off a 3-0 win over Bournemouth, so it won’t be easy against Sean Dyche’s side. According to The Mirror, Liverpool’s task will be made slightly more difficult by a half-dozen absences from their roster.
Curtis Jones is still suspended and will most likely miss out, while Thiago Alcantara and Caoimhin Kelleher are also said to be missing.
Meanwhile, Cody Gakpo, Stefan Bajcetic, and Andy Robertson are believed to be ‘doubtful’ of making the cut.
However, Robertson’s name may as well be put to the ‘certain’ pile. He could be gone for a long time. The fact that he claims to be still in the running is most likely due to the fact that the full degree of his shoulder ailment has not to be revealed.
Everton are said to be in slightly better shape. Dyche, on the other hand, could be missing four first-team players. There are concerns over Dele Alli, Seamus Coleman, Andre Gomes, and Idrissa Gana Gueye.
Liverpool will be missing a half-dozen players for the derby.
There are a few probable starters among the six guys named below. These are injuries that could be detrimental to Liverpool.
Kelleher, of course, does not fit into that group, nor does Bajcetic, despite the fact that he started and excelled in this game last season.
In normal conditions, the other four names could all be starting for Liverpool.
Clearly, Robertson would be a lock for a spot in the starting XI. The 29-year-old thrives on these types of opportunities, and the team will be diminished without him.
Jones’ value to Klopp has grown as well, and being a local guy, he may be in the team for this one. Thiago, on the other hand, is perhaps the Reds’ finest midfielder on paper.
Gakpo is another character. The £44 million signing scored his first goal for Liverpool in last year’s Anfield derby and was back in the team before suffering an injury against Tottenham.
