Snooker fans have piled praise on an “outrageous” shot from Mark Williams, who let out a cheeky smile after snookering his opponent.
The Welshman, 48, was up against Robert Milkins in the 2023 Champion of Champions on Tuesday evening as both looked to book their place in the last eight. Milkins took the clash, but it was only Williams’ name that was on the lips of fans.
Fourteen points behind with just pink and black on the table, Williams needed a snooker to have any chance of winning the sixth frame. Hedeliberately missed the pink, which was hanging over the pocket, and managed to get the cue ball behind the black to snooker Milkins.
And as he sat down a cheeky smile emerged on his face as snooker fans lost their minds on social media. “That outrageous @markwil147,” one fan responded on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a clapping emoji. While a second responded: “Unbelievable. MW highlight reel is right up there with Ronnie, Trump and Jimmy!”
“One of the best shot makers in history. Wonderful player to watch,” a third replied. And another added: “One of the greatest of all time love watching Mark Williams play!
