The 49ers have strong interest in former Green Bay Packers linebacker DeVondre Campbell, sources told NBC Sports Bay Area.
Campbell became a free agent signing target after the 49ers’ agreement with veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks fell through on Wednesday. Kendricks eventually joined the Dallas Cowboys.
The Packers released Campbell on Wednesday for a post-June 1 pick to save $10.5 million against the team’s 2024 salary cap. Campbell, 30, is an eight-year NFL veteran who played four years with the Atlanta Falcons, one year with Arizona and the next three seasons with the Packers.
In 2021, Campbell recorded a career-high 146 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery, earning him a first-team All-Pro selection. Campbell could join the 49ers, while linebacker Dre Greenlaw is undergoing physical therapy in preparation for his return after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in the Super Bowl.
Campbell will join three-time All-Pro Fred Warner and Greenlaw as the team’s top three linebackers. Campbell played in 115 games and started 110 during his career. He missed seven games last season with injuries to his ankle and neck. Although Campbell did not start, he played 40 snaps in the 49ers’ 24-21 win over the Packers in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs. He recorded eight tackles, one quarterback hit and one pass defended. Campbell was also selected as a candidate for the Packers’ Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

Jack Stoll is leaving the Eagles but will remain in the division. The 26-year-old tight end has signed a one-year contract with the New York Giants, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The Eagles may have won the trade for Saquon and Stoll, but they will need to decide who their No. 2 tight end will be for the 2024 season. Stoll has held the position with Dallas Goedert for the past two seasons.
The Eagles signed Stoll as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska in 2021. Stoll made the team and eventually established his role within the team, moving up to No. 2 overall as a rookie when Zach Ertz was traded to the Cardinals midway through the season.
Stoll didn’t have much of an impact in the passing game during his time with the Eagles. He has caught 20 passes on 27 targets for 183 yards in 50 career games (26 starts). However, Stoll was an effective blocker and played that role on the Eagles’ 12-man roster. Here are Stoll’s final grades in his three seasons in Philadelphia:

Stoll, who spent three seasons with the Eagles as a UDFA, was a restricted free agent this offseason, but the Eagles did not tender him. That meant he became an unrestricted free agent at 4 p.m. Wednesday marks the start of the new league year.
The Eagles have signed four tight ends: Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, Albert Okwuegbunam and Noah Togiai. Calcaterra is a 2022 sixth-round draft pick and has served as the Eagles’ No. 3 tight end for the past two seasons. He was seen as more of a passing option than a blocker, but he worked on the blocking element of his game. Okwuegbunam was acquired in a trade with the Broncos just before the start of the 2023 season, but he barely played in his first season with the Eagles. He was scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, but the Eagles brought him back on a one-year deal. Togiai was on the Eagles’ practice squad, appearing in eight career games. He has four on the Eagles and four on the Colts.
