LAHORE: Pakistan’s Ahsan Ramzan finished as runner-up in the IBSF 6-Red World Snooker Championship which concluded in Doha on Wednesday.

In the final, Ahsan lost to Michael Georgiou of Cyprus 6-4 with the frames score being 22-36, 39-7(39), 30-37, 34-26(34), 13-48(31), 33-22, 12-50, 47-06, 71-0(71), 41-20. Earlier in the semi-final Ahsan defeated Ali Alobaidli of Qatar 6-4 while in the other semi-final Michael Georgiou of Cyprus snatched a narrow 6-5 win against Pakistan’s Muhammad Naseem Akhtar.

Suleman Shaikh, a snooker player, and his accomplice Shabbirsaheb Shalavadi were detained in connection with a string of home invasions and two-wheeler thefts across the state.

PANAJI: Goa Police detained two people on Wednesday, one a snooker player who had competed in the recent National Games, for alleged participation in burglaries and two-wheeler theft.

Snooker player Suleman Shaikh and his accomplice Shabbirsaheb Shalavadi were detained in connection with a series of house break-ins and two-wheeler thefts throughout the state, according to Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valsan.

According to the police official, Shaikh represented Goa in the National Games 2023.

According to Valsan, the two turned to crime to pay their opulent lifestyle, which included a casino addiction.

The suspects were wanted in connection with two burglaries in Porvorim, one each in Mapusa and Mardol (all three in the North Goa region), and a motorbike theft in Margao, South Goa.

According to the officer, gold and other valuables worth Rs 17 lakh were retrieved from their possession.

According to him, police searched at least 50 CCTV cameras from crime scenes in order to find the culprits.

Shaikh and Shalavadi were apprehended on the outskirts of Panaji in Porvorim.

They attempted to leave while being questioned after being stopped on the road, but were pursued and apprehended, according to the SP, who added that additional investigation was continuing.
