The Celtics’ chances of acquiring Harden are incredibly slim Morey is unlikely to trade Harden to a division rival

According to one NBA writer, the Boston Celtics should trade for James Harden, who has sought a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers.Fadeaway World’s Lee Tran recommended that the Celtics send Malcolm Brogdon and Derrick White to the Sixers in exchange for Harden, forming a new Big 4 of Harden, Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jayson Tatum.

“Whenever a star like Harden becomes available, teams should at least consider the option of adding them if it is feasible from a financial and asset standpoint,” Tran said. “Harden’s trade value is currently lower due to his contract situation.” This is an excellent opportunity for the Celtics to add quality and raise their ceiling. Though there is always the possibility that Harden will leave for nothing at the end of the season, if the club is winning, Harden will most likely want to stay.”

Harden, a potential Hall of Famer, averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists while shooting 44.1% from the field, 38.5% from beyond the arc, and 86.7% from the free-throw line last season. The 2017-18 NBA MVP wants to be dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers, but the Sixers are not required to honor the trade request because Harden’s contract does not include a no-trade clause.

The Sixers’ president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, has set an outrageous asking price for Harden. Morey is thought to be asking for a lot for Harden because he is confident that Harden will return to the team next season.

According to NBA Analysis Network, Harden plans to “never wear” a Sixers uniform again. The three-time NBA scoring champion requested trades from the Houston Rockets and the Brooklyn Nets and was granted both requests, thus the Sixers are likely to deal Harden.
