Tottenham have set their sights on Brentford’s prolific striker Ivan Toney as a prime target this summer

According to GiveMeSport, Spurs are seriously considering a move for Toney in the ongoing transfer window.

With the England international entering the final year of his contract, which expires next June, Brentford are likely to sell him to avoid losing him for free next year.

In the 2022-23 Premier League season, Toney scored 20 goals in 33 appearances, making him the third-highest scorer in the division, trailing only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.

He is one of the most sought-after strikers this summer, with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham, all showing interest in Toney.

It was recently reported that Spurs had a £40m bid rejected for the Brentford star, with the club looking for a fee close £65m. However, those reports have not been confirmed so far.

Meanwhile, the report from GiveMeSport claims that, the club are ready to make a serious push to sign him and that the longer no other club launches a bid for him, the better the chances for Spurs to sign him for a fee close to £40m.

Toney’s impressive form extends beyond the Premier League. In the ongoing Euros, he scored a crucial penalty in the quarter-final shootout against Switzerland.

Demonstrating his composed technique, Toney scored a no-look penalty and helped England to a 4-2 advantage in the shootout, which they ultimately won.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Toney underscores their intent to strengthen their attacking options.

With his proven goal-scoring ability and composure under pressure, Toney could be a valuable addition to Spurs as they aim to enhance their squad for the upcoming season.
