Tottenham Spurs has move to sign Brendan Rodgers as Daniel Levy always admire coach

According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur may seek Brendan Rodgers to replace Antonio Conte as manager.

Several managers have been linked with the job of replacing Conte at Tottenham, though reports claim that Julian Nagelsmann, who recently left Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, is “not an option” for the north London club.

Mauricio Pochettino was reported to be “100%” willing to return to his former club, but the Argentine now appears to be out of the running, as he is looking to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid manager at the end of the season.

As a result, Spurs may have to consider Burnley manager Vincent Kompany, who is said to be a leading contender for the role, as well as Luis Enrique, who would be available without having to pay any compensation.

Jacobs claimed on Twitter on Sunday, following Leicester City’s decision to sack Brendan Rodgers, that he could be an option for Tottenham, as the chairman holds him in high regard. According to the reporter:

“Despite his poor record with Leicester this season, I wouldn’t be surprised if Spurs consider Rodgers. Despite other candidates, Daniel Levy has always admired Rodgers.”

There will be understandable skepticism about appointing the Northern Irishman, given that he leaves Leicester 19th in the Premier League table, one point from safety with 10 games remaining, but he has also had a lot of success with the Foxes.

Gary Lineker believes the 50-year-old will be “fondly remembered” by Leicester fans for what he accomplished during his time there, most notably winning the 2020-21 FA Cup and leading the club to back-to-back fifth-place finishes.

West Ham United manager David Moyes praised the FA Cup winner after his dismissal, but Spurs can most likely attract better options with more experience managing at the highest level.

With Nagelsmann out of work, there should still be an opportunity to entice the 35-year-old, who is considered Tottenham’s first-choice manager target, but they will need to finish the Premier League season strongly to ensure they can offer Champions League football.
