Bryan King has urged Unai Emery to axe Ezri Konsa and Nicolo Zaniolo against Brentford after a “horrendous” incident involving the Aston Villa duo against Manchester City.
The ex-Villa scout couldn’t believe how poor both players were for Manchester City’s second goal on Wednesday (3 April) as Emery’s side were thrashed 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Konsa and Zaniolo were both stood in the wall for Phil Foden’s free-kick and appeared to jump in separate directions, opening a gap for the ball to creep through and into the back of the net to restore City’s lead.
King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – believes neither player should be anywhere near the starting lineup when the Bees travel to Villa Park on Saturday (6 April).
“I think he will rotate his squad against Brentford, purely because I think the two players who made the mistake from the free-kick against Manchester City should be dropped to the bench.
“I wouldn’t have tolerated that, it was absolutely horrendous. I would think that those two will be right down the list of players to start against Brentford.
