Zlatan Ibrahimović hit new world goal-scoring record in Serie A history

On March 18, Zlatan Ibrahimovic became the Serie A’s oldest goalscorer, scoring a penalty against Udinese in his first appearance for AC Milan in over a year.

Ibrahimovic, who was recently recalled to the Sweden national team, converted a penalty at the second attempt in first-half stoppage time to tie the game at 1-1.

He missed his first penalty kick, but was given another when Beto was called for encroachment, and he smacked his shot down the middle of the goal.

Ibrahimovic, 41 years and 166 days old, has surpassed former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta as the oldest scorer in Italy’s top flight.

However, Milan went into the halftime break trailing by one goal, as Beto made amends for his error by scoring on the stroke of halftime.

Ibrahimovic was named captain of Milan by coach Stefano Pioli for the first time since January of last year.

He had previously made three substitute appearances this season after being out since May of last year due to reconstructive surgery on his left anterior cruciate ligament.
