David Moyes urged West Ham to sign £25m player as soon as possible after

Sporting CP are attempting to complete a move for Viktor Gyokeres as soon as possible, according to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, following reports that David Moyes wants him at West Ham United.

On Sunday afternoon, the writer stated on Twitter that Sporting prioritized the signing of the Coventry City striker.

West Ham United look primed for a pivotal summer after winning the Europa Conference League this week.

Given the Hammers’ disappointing performances in the Premier League this season, David Moyes’ future was previously doubtful. However, following the club’s first major title in almost 40 years, West Ham owner David Sullivan has confirmed that the Scotsman can carry on as manager if he so desires.

Viktor Gyokeres was one player Moyes seems to be interested in signing this summer.

Indeed, The Sun reported in March that West Ham’s manager had gone on a’solo mission’ to observe the striker.

Sporting appear to have gotten a jump on the competition and are looking to complete a deal for the 24-year-old.

Gyokeres make a sporting move

Aouna believes Sporting is attempting to sign Gyokeres as soon as feasible.

The Coventry striker is receiving interest from other clubs, but the Portuguese club has made him their top priority.

Gyokeres has been a standout for Coventry this season, assisting on 31 goals in the Championship. In all competitions, the Swedish striker scored 22 goals.

Gyokeres, who was previously rated at £25 million by Sky Blues, has been praised for his directness and pace, which allow him to operate out wide or as a lone striker.

But it is his great eye for goal that has piqued the interest of West Ham, who have struggled in that department this season.

Given his impressive physical presence while leading the line for Coventry, he appears to be the ideal long-term replacement for Michail Antonio.

It would be a setback for West Ham to lose Gyokeres, given they have been planning a move for quite some time.
