West Ham ahead of Premier League clubs to sign £35m Ajax sparking midfielder

According to ExWHUemployee, West Ham now have a strong lead over Borussia Dortmund in the race to recruit Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.

The trustworthy Hammers insider stated on Patreon on Friday (14 July) that the Irons have already made enquiries about signing the 25-year-old Mexico international.

Those first attempts are now expected to be converted into a formal offer of roughly £35 million.

With Declan Rice’s transfer to Arsenal completed, West Ham should have the cash to sign Alvarez and a few other players to bolster David Moyes’ side.

Alvarez is a seasoned defensive midfielder at the pinnacle of his career, having previously played in the Champions League for Ajax and internationally for Mexico.

He appeared in 44 games for Ajax last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

The former Club America midfielder is an excellent ball-winner who can also play in the center of defense.

According to The Analyst, Alvarez led the Ajax team in tackles last season with 40, ranking him 15th in the Eredivisie. A remarkable achievement for a player at a top team who averaged 67% possession.

Because of Alvarez’s aggression, he is frequently booked, thus West Ham will need a back-up alternative for the Mexican in that position because he could face one or two suspensions.

But, in general, we’d be pleased with this use of some of the proceeds from the sale of Rice.

In unrelated West Ham news, Kaveh Solhekol has revealed what surprised sources have revealed about the Rice-Arsenal agreement.
