West Ham are at verge of signing Bristol City super defender for £25m this summer

West Ham are considering a move for Bristol City’s Alex Scott, with the Championship club intending to charge a fee of £25 million.

Scott is one of the country’s most highly rated young players and is likely to join the Premier League this summer.

This season, the 19-year-old was voted the Championship’s Young Player of the Season, and he has just returned from representing England at the Under-20 World Cup.

West Ham are said to have made preliminary negotiations with the player’s representation and are currently deciding whether to make a move.

David Moyes has a track record of bringing in Championship players, most notably signing Jarrod Bowen from Hull City and developing him into a full England international.

Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s treble-winning manager, praised Scott after a Carabao Cup clash earlier this season, calling the midfielder a “unbelievable talent.”

Earlier this season, Robins manager Nigel Pearson stated that the club would require at least £25 million to authorise a sale this summer.

“I believe Alex will play for England one day,” remarked Pearson. “I thought the same thing when I first saw him in a training session, and nothing has changed my mind since.”

“He is a cool-headed young man who will not be swayed by press reports.” He will play for a major club one day; the only question is when.”
