Elliot Lee, Modou Faal and Wrexham stars send Ryan Barnett message after Mansfield Town goal

Ryan Barnett once again stepped up for Wrexham in their meeting with Mansfield Town on Saturday.

Wrexham were aiming to keep their winning streak at the Racecourse Ground alive when they faced off with Mansfield Town on Saturday.

The Red Dragons had failed to win their previous three matches in all competitions but got back to winning ways on Saturday.

When all was said and done in Wales, Wrexham beat Mansfield 1-0, meaning they have now won 10 and drawn one of their last 11 home league fixtures.

The only goal of the clash came seven minutes in when right-wing-back Ryan Barnett smashed in his first League One goal of 2024/25 from the edge of the box.

The remainder of the 90 minutes was largely in Mansfield’s favour but the heroics of their goalkeeper meant Phil Parkinson’s side held out for a much-needed three points.

Barnett was once again awarded Man of the Match at the Racecourse and has since earned praise from fans and players alike.

Wrexham fans praised Barnett during the Mansfield meeting and he was even compared to Brazil legend, Cafu.

Now, his Red Dragons teammates have taken to social media to send the right-back messages post-game.

Barnett took to Instagram to share a picture of himself celebrating his winning goal with the caption: “Back to winning ways and a goal at home.”

On loan star Jordan Davies simply commented a bullseye emoji, Lewis Brunt wrote: “Barney ball”, Elliot Lee commented with a fire and love-heart-eyes emoji, Thomas O’Connor sent a wizard emoji, and striker Modou Faal sent two fire emojis.

What Phil Parkinson said about Ryan Barnett after Mansfield

Barnett now has five assists and one goal in his first 13 league games of 2024/25 – a superb return for a defender.

He has, without question, been Wrexham’s best player this season so far and manager Parkinson has now praised the defender in his post-match comments.

He said: “Barney has obviously played in that wing-back role for us for a while. He is obviously a very attack-minded wing-back, but he is sensing danger better and better.

“He is recovering in those positions quicker, and I would imagine Barnley would have been Man of the Match today because of those two key moments in the game.”
