WHAT HAPPENED?

Wrexham started their League One campaign with a massive win against Wycombe Wanderers, and they followed it up with a goalless draw against Bolton at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. Bolton dominated proceedings against Phil Parkinson’s men but the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club held strong to take a point.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

McClean and the squad had been receiving a lot of flak throughout the game from Bolton’s home support, and the Wrexham captain responded after the game, calling their venue the ‘Toughsh*t Stadium’ on Instagram.

“Point on the road at the toughsh*t stadium… fantastic away support,” McClean’s statement read in full.

WHAT PARKINSON SAID

Speaking to the media, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said of the stalemate: “It was a good test and I was interested to see how we fared. They started so quickly and we didn’t quite react to that. But we grew into the game. We showed at times we have got quality. We had moments, so did they.

“It was important for us as well to show we can compete at this level, at the top end of the division. I felt we did that. At times in the second period, we gained some control with the ball and looked like we could go on and win it.

“But we had to rely on Arthur (Okonkwo) for one particular outstanding save.”

WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

The Red Dragons will next take on Reading at SToK Cae Ras on Saturday, August 24 in their third game of the League One season as they look to keep up their unbeaten streak.
